- The paper discusses the authors' experience in enabling the application of model-driven principles and tools for supporting the development of ROS-based applications. The authors have performed a bottom-up approach by analyzing existing systems to create reusable metamodels and tools, fostering abstractions and reusability.

- The paper is about a relevant topic, and the experience is a potentially good contribution to the event's program. However, I have some concerns about the presentation of the paper related to the following main issues:
- The paper does not rely on any illustrative example making the full understanding of the performed experience difficult.

- As the authors recognise, the need for standards and principles when developing robotic systems through ROS technologies makes adopting MDD principles and tools very difficult. How has this been mitigated? Authors defined a set of standards and metamodels, even though this might be very specific for the applications that have been analysed. Further iterations of the process need to be operated to increase the confidence that the developed tools can support/cover any ROS systems. This point is the main shortcoming of the work, which is not rigorous in its current state. However, despite such limitations, the paper can be a good contribution to raise interesting discussions during the event. |
